Mission: Impossible 3 Review
On a misty May evening in Harlem USA, 106 & Park aired live from the Magic Johnson Theatre. But on this star-studded evening, 106 & Park took on a different moniker; 106: Impossible. What is to be the beginning of a theatre packing summer for blockbuster releases, Mission: Impossible III establishes itself as the bar that all big budget movies must clear this summer to be called a success.
The stars were out early in Harlem. M:I:3 co-stars like Ving Rhames, Laurence Fishburne and Michelle Monaghan walked the carpet alongside recording stars like Joe, newcomers Luke & Q, Keyshia Cole, Twista, Kanye West and a long list of others.
But no star shined brighter than the lead actor and executive producer of the popular series, Tom Cruise. During his red carpet appearance, Mr. Cruise equipped with his infectious smile and free spirited attitude won over every fan that stood along the carpet lines by being totally accessible. He signed every picture, napkin, notepad, t-shirt and poster that was passed to him. He took pictures with each and every fan who requested a photo opportunity. He was the definition of a worldwide celebrity who appreciates his position in the entertainment field.
***Side Bar***
What really turned me off about the red carpet event was the fact that you had celebrities, that I choose to keep nameless, acting like their **** didn’t stink and being just stuck up on themselves. Entertainers who would never reach the status of a Tom Cruise, looking like they were almost forced to interact with their screaming fans was a disappointment in my eyes. This is your opportunity to show your consumers how much you appreciate them, and all you can do is strike a pose or sign an autograph but not look like you’re into it? I’m glad that Tom was there to show them how it should be done.
If you are looking for celebrity quotes, I don’t know what to tell you. People were so streamline about their comments; you can tell that they sat down with their publicist to think up a good “one liner” for the event. All that I can say is people were excited to be there; for whatever reason they decided to be there…

But when Hunt’s attempts to snare evil arms dealer Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman) that goes horrifically wrong, Ethan becomes a fugitive to both sides of the game in a race against the clock.
Review
From the opening scene, M:I:3 is a suspenseful thrill ride that will test your reflexes and draw a bevy of emotions out of the viewer. Those who aren’t familiar with the spy movie genre will enjoy the quick action, impossible stunts and trusty gadgets. Those who are familiar with franchises like James Bond and Bourne will feel like there are more explosions than actual intelligence.
During my review of the movie, I took a survey on the demographic of the audience which spanned from the age of 16 – 22. For the most part, the young ladies were caught up in the love story, and the young men reacted more to the relentless action. The ladies were at the edge of their seats during climatic moments, and the guys were dazzled by the stunt sequences. Overall, the young crowd was satisfied with the movie to the extent of clapping and cheering once the credits started to roll.
Mission: Impossible 3 was the perfect compliment to its predecessors… easily the best effort from the reemerging franchise. You will be satisfied in the purchase of your ticket by movie’s end whether you believed the movie to be impressive or the run of the mill.
